PhysioXtra's podiatrist has developed an orthotic laboratory to enable MyPod to offer custom made orthotic devices.

Advice from the podiatrist on footwear and biomechanical assessments assists the treatment of foot, ankle, knee and lower back injuries.

The Orthema difference with MyPod:

  • Accurate 3D scan of the feet
  • Weight bearing or semi weight bearing scan positions
  • No need for conventional messy plaster casts
  • The digital scanner records the exact contours of your feet whilst being held in it's 'corrected' position by your podiatrist
  • Orthotics are more comfortable due to scanning precision
  • Extra width orthotics for those extra wide feet
  • Single, dual or tri density EVA orthotics
  • Your podiatrist has complete control over the scanning, corrections & milling of your orthotics (no technicians or middle man involved)
  • Accurate computer machine milled (no human error)
  • Exact duplication of othotics for 2nd, 3rd pair of shoes
  • State-of-the-art rubberised EVA to create flexible 'soft ' orthotics
  • Immediate comfort with little to no wear-in required
  • Fits all sports shoe types including football boots

Mypod is based at Marion and North Adelaide

Additional Podiatry Information
For both hard and soft orthotics MyPod uses digital scanning technology. For soft orthotics MyPod has just upgraded to the cutting edge Orthema system, which is the latest in Swiss/German engineering. Orthema uses CNC milling to create orthotics with an accuracy of 0.01mm. Hard orthotics include carbon fibre and polypropylene orthotics.

Soft (EVA) orthotics fit better into sports shoes, provide more shock absorption and have increased flexibility in the shoe. EVA is the material that running shoe midsoles are made from. In effect the EVA orthotic becomes part of the shoe.

Usually a person may be prescribed orthoses due to problems with their biomechanics and alignment, and can suffer with symptoms such as lower back pain, knee pain, heel or arch pain. Patients we assess can often also be concerned about 'flat feet', bunions, hammer/clawed toes and various other foot deformities.
Whilst assessing the patient, other services the podiatrist may recommend include: ice, massage, sports taping, footwear advice, footwear modifications, bracing, alternative activist, strengthening and stretching.

MyPod Podiatry also offer a variety of services in general podiatry including:

  • toe nail trimming
  • ingrown toenail surgery
  • diabetic foot care and assessment
  • corns and callus
  • warts

We accept EPC (medicare) referrals from the GP which are bulk billed to medicare, and DVA (veterans affairs) referrals also.

Patients that required extra depth or extra width footwear, or just a professional fit in a high quality brand, are offered two no charge fitting appointments for footwear. One to be measured and one to be fitted. We offer the following brands:

  • Dr Comfort medical grade footwear
  • Gadean sandals
  • Orthaheel thongs
  • Steel Blue work boots

Podiatry services are also provided at Norwood and Hallett Cove practices
